How to Choose a Birthday Cake
Before ordering, consider more than just the design. Think about the number of guests, flavours and the overall style of your celebration.
Check:
how many guests the cake should serve;
available flavours and fillings;
whether custom designs are available;
how far in advance you need to order;
whether delivery is available;
storage requirements;
whether dietary requirements can be accommodated.
Kids' Birthday Cakes
Themed cakes are particularly popular for children's birthday parties. The design can reflect the child's interests or match the overall party theme.
Colours, decorations and personalised details can make the cake part of the celebration itself.
When choosing a kids' birthday cake, consider both the appearance and flavours that children will enjoy, as well as the number of portions required.

Birthday Cakes for Teenagers
Older children and teenagers may prefer a more modern design — a minimalist cake, something inspired by their interests or a personalised message.
The cake can also match the birthday activity, whether the celebration involves VR, a creative workshop or another experience.

What Size Birthday Cake Do You Need?
The right size depends mainly on the number of guests and whether other desserts will also be served.
Tell the cake maker approximately how many people will attend. They can recommend an appropriate cake size or number of portions.
For larger celebrations, it is also worth considering how the cake will be cut and served.
How Far in Advance Should You Order a Birthday Cake?
Custom birthday cakes are best ordered in advance, particularly when you need a specific design or your celebration takes place on a popular weekend.
Popular cake makers may have limited availability on busy dates.
The more detailed the design or requirements, the earlier it is worth discussing your order.
Custom Birthday Cakes
A custom cake can be designed around the person and the celebration.
Before contacting a cake maker, consider preparing:
preferred colours;
party theme;
age of the birthday person;
personalised wording;
inspiration images;
decoration ideas.
Every cake maker has their own style, so look at examples of previous work before choosing.
How Much Does a Birthday Cake Cost in Riga?
Prices vary depending on cake size, ingredients, design complexity, decorations and the individual cake maker.
A simple design will generally cost less than an elaborate custom cake.
When comparing options, check what is included and whether delivery, special decorations or other extras cost more.
What Else Do You Need for a Birthday?
Alongside the cake, you may need a party venue, decorations, balloons, entertainer, photographer, workshop or another activity.
